Keratosis Pilaris on the face is just one place that sufferers experience embarassing marks on the skin. It is a very common skin disease which is also known as "chicken skin". It is not a serious medical skin condition but it can be very annoying, unsightly and may cause embarrassment to the affected person. Anyone can get it but it is more common in adolescents and children.

Even healthy people can be affected with this skin disorder. It can resemble goose bumps and it can also look like small red bumps scattered in some parts of the body. The most common body parts that can be affected by this skin disorder are the arms, thighs and buttocks. And though a bit illegally, it can also affect the face.

This skin condition has no cure but it can ever be less visible with time. There are also many treatments and therapies that can be done to alleviate the symptoms thought on by Keratosis Pilaris but sometimes it can ever disappear without any treatment. It is also not contagious and does not impound any harm. It usually runs in the family. But if you are concerned with your appearance, KP, especially in the face can be a hassle.

It is known as Keratosis Pilaris Rubra Faceii. Unlike where it occurs on other parts of the body, this kind is more embarrassing as it is a lot more difficult to hide. There are often blamed patches found in the cheek area that are sometimes red in color and usually resembles acne. But unlike acne, this is not caused by bacteria but rather keratin plugs. Therefore, acne treatments, creams and facial washes will not help to treat it on the face.

The most basic thing to do to manage it is to avoid scratching the affected area so that it will not get irritated. Scratching will only worsen the situation.

The next thing that you should do is to clean the face at least twice a day using only mild soaps or facial wash. You must also take note that this skin condition worsens on people with very dry skin. So it is a good idea to wash the face daily with an excellent moisturizing soap or facial wash. Never use an acne wash or cream as this only aggravates the condition. Exfoliating the skin with mild facial scrubs is also a good way to remove dirt and impurities on the face without having the risk of irritations.

As previously mentioned, Keratosis Pilaris can worsen on skin that is very dry so you should not let your face be dry for long periods of time. Use mild moisturizers or lactic acid lotions on the skin whenever needed. You can also infuse some tablespoons of Vitamin E to your bath water as another way to moisturize your skin. Drinking plenty of water also helps to rehydrate the skin keeping it fresh and healthy. These are some of the many treatments that can be made to manage Keratosis Pilaris on the face.
